Bunibon 2 is the spiritual successor and epic sequel that people have been begging for since the original Bunibon. It was released for Android and iOS platforms as well as the Ouya. A free version with ads for mobile platforms was later released.

Description[]

Very much like the original the player controls the titular Bunibon. The objective of each stage is to collect orbs while avoiding obstacles and enemies. Each level is short and typically consists of a single screen with outlines detailing where the next orb(s) will spawn. New to Bunibon 2 levels may now scroll to the left or right revealing more to the path of orbs.

Controls[]

Bunibon is always bouncing up and down. The player can move pressing and holding onto either the left or right side of the screen to move Bunibon. There is a minor skid to account for when moving and stopping.

Gameplay[]

The overworld consists of several multi-colored grids representing a different theme. Each grid is made of tiles that represents a stage that the player can pick. When the player beats a stage the surrounding nearby tiles are unlocked allowing the player to pick which path they can go. There are also tiles consisting of boss fights designated by a skull insignia.

New to Bunibon 2 are specific Swirl stages designated by a swirly tile. These stages play like normal until the player touches one or two orbs. The stage then rotates forcing the player to react immediately to avoid death.

Bonus Stages[]

Unique to each world is a bonus stage designated by a star tile. Bonus stages. There is no real objective, just collect the scrolling food while avoiding hazards. Each stage has a leaderboard that ranks people on their highest scores.

"Evil" Stages[]

Clearing all the levels unlocks a special tile near the beginning. It unlocks more difficult variants of the regular levels.

Boss Stages[]

The boss fights consists of a single enemy with a visible weak point on their head. The player must dodge their attacks and bounce on the weak point a total of three times to defeat their opponent and spawn the orb necessary to clear the stage. Defeating every boss gains access to the topmost horned-skull tile where the final boss can be faced.

The game garnered positive reviews. The PlayStore currently holds a 4.8 out of 5[1].

Trivia[]

  • Beating the game will award the player a crown that is visible.
  • Bunibon and all the bosses and enemies will go on to be featured on cards in Card City Nights and its sequel.
